1 Dead in Bakersfield Crash on Union Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 6, 2020) – Early Tuesday morning, a woman died in a pedestrian accident on Union Avenue.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the pedestrian accident happened at about 12:50 a.m. It took place on Union Avenue near the Jalisco Market on E. 8th Street.
The BPD’s initial investigation revealed that the vehicle struck the woman while crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk. Thus, the authorities declared her dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the vehicle driver remained at the scene and helped with the investigation. Afterward, they also released the driver.
Furthermore, the police ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in the fatal crash. However, they continue to investigate the incident. Thus, they encourage anyone with information to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
