56-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Seattle Car Collision
SEATTLE, WA (August 13, 2019) – On Tuesday night, a 56-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car in a pedestrian accident on Aurora Avenue.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the incident happened just after 9:20 PM near North 85th Street.
As per reports, the victim walked across the street mid-block in the southbound lanes. However, a 41-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Astro struck the woman, pining her under the vehicle.
As a result, the Seattle Fire Department had to extricate the woman from under the van. First responders declared the pedestrian dead on scene.
Law enforcement stated the Astron Van driver was not impaired. They do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the accident. Her cause of accident was ruled an accident, according to the King County Medical Examiner. In addition, police did not release the identity of the victim to the public.
The surrounding area closed for a brief time for cleanup and preliminary investigation, but has since reopened. Police did not announce further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time. Further investigation of the incident is underway.
