1 Dead in Lancaster Pedestrian Crash on 20th Street and Avenue I
LANCASTER, CA (January 12, 2021) – Sunday night, a woman in her 50s died in a pedestrian accident on 20th Street and Avenue I.
The deadly crash occurred at about 6:12 p.m. on 20th Street West, south of Avenue I.
“Preliminary investigation indicates a male adult in a Ford Escape was traveling northbound on 20th Street West. The driver of the Ford Escape struck a female adult (pedestrian) who was walking across 20th Street West,” reports stated.
As a result, responding paramedics declared the pedestrian dead at the scene. At this time, the authorities are withholding her identity due to pending family notification.
Also, the authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash. However, they do not believe that speed played a role in the crash.
“The driver of the Ford Escape did not appear to be under the influence. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor with the pedestrian,” the sheriff’s news release said.
