One Fatally Struck by Truck near Pattison Street Northeast
OLYMPIA, WA (December 4, 2018) – A woman was killed in a medical scooter accident on Martin Way East, late Tuesday morning. The deceased victim’s name was not immediately released to the public, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the Olympia Police Department, officers and medics arrived at the scene in the 3000 block of Martin near Pattison Street Northeast, at around 11:45 AM after reports of a serious collision.
Reports revealed that they located a dead woman, described to be in her mid-50s, in the area. A preliminary investigation determined that the woman was riding her medical scooter on Martin Way going west when a truck hit her as it was driving off a private driveway.
The truck driver was reportedly not impaired and remained at the scene to help with the investigation. Due to the incident, Martin Way was shut down and was reopened around 3:30 PM. No additional information has been released to the public at this time, as the investigation continues.
