Passenger Dies After Cab Strikes LAFD Ambulance on West Jefferson Boulevard in Playa Vista
PLAYA VISTA, CA (December 29, 2019) – A 60-year-old woman riding as a passenger in a taxi cab died when the vehicle crashed into an ambulance Sunday morning in Playa Vista.
The crash happened around 8:22 a.m. in the 13200 block of West Jefferson Boulevard.
According to reports, the taxi driver struck a Los Angeles Fire Department ambulance responding to an emergency. In addition, the ambulance had its lights and sirens on when it was hit.
Firefighter paramedics immediately provided medical assistance to the passenger in the back of the cab. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The taxi driver and the firefighters involved were taken to the hospital but did not appear to have visible, serious injuries.
