Fatal Late Evening Rollover Crash on Highway 74 in Hemet
HEMET, CA (June 9, 2019) – An woman was killed following a rollover crash late Sunday evening in Hemet.
To begin, the fatal crash was reported around 11:08 p.m., on Highway 74 near Four Seasons Boulevard.
Reports indicate that a small car lost control before overturning several times. It then burst into flames, and the driver was possibly trapped inside the burning vehicle.
Arriving officers located a 1995 Toyota Camry that had landed on its roof. The sedan was found engulfed in flames upon arrival.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters later confirmed that the female driver was deceased and still trapped inside the burned wreckage of the car.
A preliminary investigation determined that the Camry was heading east on Florida Avenue when it failed to negotiate a bend in the road. It eventually traveled across the center median and into the westbound lanes. The car then jumped across concrete curb and plowed into a tree as a result.
Furthermore, the impact also caused the car to roll over several times before coming to rest upside down and bursting into flames.
Alcohol and/or drugs have not been ruled out as contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
With thoughts of peace and comfort, we send our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
