Motorhome Involved in Deadly Fiery Crash on 8 Freeway in Holtville
HOLTVILLE, CA (December 1, 2019) – A woman was killed and five others were hospitalized following a fiery crash Sunday night in Holtville.
The crash happened around 6:40 p.m. on eastbound 8 Freeway at Bonds Corner Road.
According to the CHP, the woman was driving a 2014 Cadillac CTS eastbound on 8 Freeway. For unknown reasons, she slammed into a disabled 1999 Gulf Stream Spartan RV carrying four people.
The impact caused the back of the RV to catch fire.
The woman in the Cadillac suffered blunt force trauma and died at the scene. She was only described as a resident of Glendale, Arizona.
Meanwhile, the four occupants of the RV were injured. Paramedics transported them to El Centro Regional Medical Center. All of them are residents of Peoria, Arizona.
A pedestrian, a 49-year-old man, also suffered minor injuries in the crash and was also transported El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Crews closed the eastbound freeway lanes for about 30 minutes while they worked on the scene.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
