Fatal Crash on Highway 99 near 5 Freeway Split in Fort Tejon
FORT TEJON, CA (December 9, 2019) – A woman was killed in a traffic accident Monday night in Fort Tejon, authorities said.
The crash happened around 6:10 p.m. on northbound Highway 99 near 5 Freeway split.
According to the California Highway Patrol, only one vehicle was involved. When officers arrived, they found the woman pinned between the driver’s side door and a concrete guardrail. A group of good Samaritans tried to help and rescue the woman.
Responding firefighters performed CPR, but the victim died at the scene.
The Kern County Coroner’s Office did not release the woman’s identity pending next of kin notification.
Traffic was backed up along the Grapevine as a result of the accident.
An investigation is still ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash and factors involved.
