1 Dead in Clarksdale Auto Accident on Highway 6 and Highway 31
CLARKSDALE, MO (December 23, 2024) – Thursday, a woman died in a brutal 2-vehicle crash on Highway 6 and Highway 31.
The incident occurred at 3:45 p.m. on Highway 6 and Highway 31 North Junction, five miles north of Clarksdale, Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
A crash occurred at an intersection when a southbound 2007 GMC Envoy, driven by an 18-year-old from Bethany, Missouri, failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a westbound 2001 Dodge 1500. Both vehicles left the roadway, with the GMC Envoy overturning and coming to rest on its top, while the Dodge 1500 remained upright.
A 37-year-old woman from Bethany, a passenger in the GMC Envoy, was pronounced dead at the scene by DeKalb County Coroner Heath Turner at 4:31 p.m. Her body was transported to the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office.
The GMC Envoy’s driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph by Cameron EMS. Three additional passengers in the GMC Envoy were injured: a 15-year-old girl with serious injuries was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital, and a 40-year-old man was transported to Mosaic Life Care with serious injuries. None of the GMC Envoy’s occupants were wearing seat belts except for the driver.
The driver of the Dodge 1500, a 31-year-old man from Clarksdale, Missouri, also sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mosaic Life Care. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Both vehicles were totaled and removed from the scene by Scotty’s Towing. Emergency response was provided by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, Cameron EMS, and assisting officers.
