Pedestrian in Wheel Chair Fatally Struck by Car near Fruitridge Road
SACRAMENTO, CA (May 24, 2018) – Authorities are actively seeking the driver responsible for a fatal hit-and-run crash on Stockton Boulevard that claimed the life of a woman, early Thursday morning.
According to the Sacramento Police Department, the collision was reported at around 3 AM. Responding officers found an unconscious woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. She was in her wheelchair in the southbound lanes of Stockton Blvd when a vehicle struck her and fled.
Her identity was not released to the public, pending notification of family.
Stockton Boulevard between Fruitridge Road and Lawrence Drive was temporarily shut down for an investigation. The roadway was later reopened to the public at about 7:30 AM.
Investigators are unsure if the woman was in the bicycle lane or in the car lane before the accident happened. They also do not have any knowledge of the hit-and-run suspect and the vehicle involved in the crash.
