Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver near Salinas Municipal Airport
SALINAS, CA (September 14, 2018) – A woman was killed early Friday morning following a hit-and-run crash on Roy Diaz Street. The identity of the victim was not immediately released, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the Salinas Police Department, the incident took place at about 2:30 AM near the Salinas Municipal Airport. The victim was walking at Roy Diaz and De La Torre streets when she was struck by a vehicle.
Responding officers found the woman severely injured in the roadway as a result of the crash. She was then rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical staff. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle involved did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.
An investigation is ongoing to gather information about the location and the identity of the hit-and-run driver. Anyone who may have witnessed the fatal incident is encouraged to call the SPD at (831) 758-7250. No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
