CHP Investigates Fatal Solo Vehicle Rollover Crash on Interstate 5 near Gustine

Gustine, CA (May 13, 2022) – Friday afternoon, a 51-year-old woman from Springfield died, and a 10-year-old girl sustained injuries in a solo vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 5.

The fatal crash in Gustine happened at around 1:30 p.m. on May 13 in an area just north of the State Route 140 exit.

CHP said the woman driving a Toyota Prius left the roadway for unknown reasons and flipped over multiple times before landing back on its wheels.

The woman died at the crash scene while EMS airlifted the girl to Valley Children’s Hospital. 

She had no visible injuries but was in and out of consciousness. The relationship between the two people is unknown at this time.

CHP is still investigating whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. 

Further investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
