1 Dead in Firebaugh Multi-Vehicle Accident on Interstate 5 and Nees Avenue

 
FIREBAUGH, CA (June 26, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, a woman died in a big rig crash on Interstate 5 and Nees Avenue.
 
The incident involving multiple vehicles happened at 2:17 p.m. on Interstate 5, south of the Nees Avenue off-ramp.
 
According to reports, the 2016 Freightliner headed north on Interstate 5. Then, the driver failed the see the slowed traffic ahead.
 
As a result, the semi-truck rear-ended four vehicles and overturned.
 
“Traffic was slowed from an earlier car fire on the shoulder,” said CHP Sergeant Robert Shaw. “The driver obviously didn’t see the slow traffic. He applied the brakes but he hit four vehicles.”
 
Reports confirmed that the truck first hit a 2016 Nissan Murano with its driver and two passengers. As a result, the woman sitting in the right rear passenger seat died at the scene.
 
The authorities haven’t disclosed her identity at this time due to pending family notification.
 
Moreover, the crash also led to minor injuries.
 
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
