1 Dead in San Diego Auto Accident on Interstate 5 near Coronado Avenue

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 13, 2022) – Tuesday morning, a 63-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Coronado Avenue.
 
The incident happened at around 11:00 a.m. on northbound Interstate 5 near Coronado Avenue. Moreover, the crash involved a Ford Ranger and a Volkswagen Jetta.
 
According to reports, a 65-year-old San Diego man driving a Ford Ranger headed north on Interstate 5. Then, his car drove across all lanes. Eventually, a 24-year-old Chula Vista woman driving a Volkswagen Jetta hit the Ford.
 
“The impact from the collision caused the Ford to overturn ejecting the passenger. A 63-year-old female from San Diego,” said CHP spokesperson Salvador Castro.
 
Responders took the 63-year-old woman to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Meanwhile, the Ford driver sustained major injuries while the Volkswagen driver suffered minor injuries.
 
As a result of the crash, the northbound lanes on the Interstate 5 remained closed. At 12:15 p.m., the roads have since reopened.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
Furthermore, the authorities haven’t disclosed the identity of the deceased due to pending family notification.
