UNIVERSITY PLACE, WA (June 27, 2022) – Saturday night, a 65-year-old woman died in a DUI crash on 35th Street and Grandview Drive.
 
The incident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. on 35th Street West and Grandview Drive West in University Place.
 
Deputies and Pierce County Fire personnel responded to the scene and located one of the involved drivers dead at the scene.
 
According to some witnesses, the SUV driver traveled south on Grandview Drive while speeding.
 
Then, the SUV struck a vehicle that slowed down to turn at the intersection of Grandview Drive and 35th Street West.
 
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old SUV driver continued around the corner and crashed into a small sedan. According to reports, the 65-year-old female sedan driver stopped at a stop sign when the crash occurred.
 
Moreover, officers arrested the 21-year-old male SUV driver and received charges of vehicular homicide. Deputies said that he appeared under the influence.
