DUI Driver Arrested after Crash on Power Inn Road in Sacramento

Sacramento, CA (May 26, 2022) – On Thursday, a 34-year-old Sacramento woman died, and the child with her in the car sustained critical injuries in a crash on Power Inn Road.

Subsequently, police arrested the at-fault driver, a 32-year-old Elk Grove man on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The fatal crash in Sacramento happened on May 26.

Sacramento Police said they received calls of a white pickup recklessly driven along Mack Road, Stockton Boulevard, and Elsie Avenue.

The CHP then received calls from witnesses who spotted the white 2006 Chevrolet 3500 pickup heading east on Elsie at a high rate of speed and making unsafe lane changes.

Shortly after, the pickup then ran a red light at the intersection of Power Inn Road, where it broadsided the left side of a silver 2014 Ford Explorer that was heading north on Power Inn Road and had a green light.

As a result, the Ford Explorer overturned, and the Chevrolet pickup came to rest in a nearby ditch. 

The woman driving the Ford died at the crash scene while the 4-year-old child with her is currently in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the bystanders had to restrain the driver and detain him until CHP officers arrived.

Further investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
