Female Victim Pronounced Dead after Auto Accident near Challenger Way in Lancaster
LANCASTER, CA (May 12, 2020) – Saturday evening, a woman was found dead after an alleged hit-and-run crash near Avenue L.
County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Clinton Skaggs, with the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station said that at 7:20 p.m., a man found the victim near Avenue L and Challenger Way. Upon discovery, the man then reported it to the authorities. He also told authorities that he saw a car with front-end damage further down the road.
When the deputies came to the scene, they found out that the woman was a pedestrian who was struck by a car. The County firefighters declared her dead at the scene.
The deputies also located an abandoned blue Nissan sedan on the side of the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, near the corpse of the victim.
“You never know who was driving at the time,” Skaggs added. He also confirmed that the deputies will try to contact the registered owner of the abandoned vehicle.
Meanwhile, the coroner’s office was able to determine that the woman was around 50-years-old. They identified her by her fingerprints.
However, the authorities did not disclose her name to the public.
