Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Rolled-Over SUV in Columbia City
SEATTLE, WA (August 6, 2019) – A woman was killed after being pinned under a rolled-over car that was involved in a crash early Tuesday morning at a busy Columbia City intersection.
Medics and police responded to the intersection of South Alaska Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way South after receiving reports of a vehicle striking a pedestrian and pinning them underneath the rolled-over car.
Upon arrival, they located the victim pinned underneath the rolled-over SUV and later pronounced her dead at the scene.
Seattle police said the crash involved multiple vehicles that careened into the pedestrian.
The crash blocked several lanes, urging drivers to use alternative routes. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
Authorities do not believe either of the involved drivers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
Further investigation is still underway.
