State Route 62 Bicycle Crash Kills One
Joshua Tree, CA (October 29, 2021) – On Wednesday, a 38-year-old Iowa woman suffered fatal injuries in a State Route 62 bicycle crash.
The crash happened at approximately 2:20 p.m. west of Rice Avenue.
Officers said an 80-year-old Twentynine Palms driver was westbound on the freeway within the #2 lane west of Rice Avenue.
At the same time, the bicyclist was westbound on the freeway’s shoulder, west of Rice Avenue.
The Twentynine Palms driver made an unsafe turn to the shoulder of State Route 62 and rear-ended the bicycle.
Unfortunately, the victim was thrown from the bicycle and landed on the shoulder of the roadway.
The rescuers rushed the bicyclist to the Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree.
Similarly, the rescuers also took the other driver to the Hi-Desert Medical Center with suspected minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the police are still investigating this incident. However, they said that they do not suspect drugs and/or alcohol are a factor in this fatal crash.
The officers withheld the deceased’s name as next of kin still needs to be contacted.
