1 Hospitalized after Elma Traffic Crash on Highway 8
ELMA, WA (August 4, 2020) – Saturday night, a woman suffered injuries in a truck accident on Highway 8 in Elma.
According to police reports, at around 10:50 p.m., a 25-year-old Centralia man traveled with a 24-year-old female passenger from Centralia. They headed east on Highway 8 when a blue Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck drove past them, stopped in front of them, and hit the brakes. The blue vehicle carried two bicycles, the state patrol revealed.
Then, the Centralia male driver in a 2015 Toyota four-door veered to the left to avoid a crash. However, he overcorrected and crashed into the guardrail. Meanwhile, the truck continued driving east.
As a result, the female passenger sustained injuries and was taken to Summit Pacific Medical Center. Moreover, the male driver was uninjured.
Since there are only limited details available, the authorities ask for the public’s help. They are encouraging anyone with information about the truck driver to contact Trooper M. Rabe at 360-473-0300.
Due to a truck’s significant size and power, drivers cannot stop quickly or maneuver easily like other vehicles, and thus they need additional time to react and adjust their speed. As a truck driver, be mindful of your size and weight when gaining speed or making turns. By doing so, you can help to ensure the safety of yourself and others around you.
