59-Year-Old Woman Struck and Injured by Vehicle in Normal Heights Neighborhood
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 6, 2018) – A woman was critically injured Wednesday afternoon following a pedestrian collision on Adams Avenue.
According to the San Diego Police, the collision happened at about 2:15 PM in the Normal Heights neighborhood. A 59-year-old woman was crossing the intersection of Adams Avenue and Cherokee Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle attempting to turn left onto Adams. Witnesses stated that the woman struck her hands out in an attempt to “push off the car” before she was hit.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital where she is currently being treated for life-threatening injuries. There is no update on her current medical condition. The driver was reportedly unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.
Authorities are still trying to determine who was at fault or what might have caused the incident, but they have already ruled out drugs and alcohol as possible factors. No other information is available at this time regarding the ongoing investigation, or identities of the parties involved.
