Injuries Reported in Mission Hills Auto Accident on Lassen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard

MISSION HILLS, CA (August 18, 2024) – Saturday night, a woman suffered injuries in a fiery crash on Lassen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard.

Reports said that the crash occurred at about 5:09 p.m. on Lassen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard in Mission Hills.

A bystander’s dashcam recorded a white Lexus sedan speeding by before crashing into a dark gray Ford pickup truck that was making a left turn. The high-speed collision caused both vehicles to spin out of control, ultimately striking a traffic signal pole. The impact ignited flames beneath the truck, which ended up on a sidewalk, while the Lexus collided with a wall near a CVS parking lot.

Both vehicles were destroyed, leaving debris scattered across the intersection.

“I saw on my rearview mirror that [the white sedan] was coming so fast, they’re going to hit somebody,” said Seth Gurlal, who captured the crash on his dashcam. “They had no regard for anybody.”

According to witnesses, bystanders quickly ran to assist the female driver trapped inside the burning truck. “They pulled out a woman but her feet were stuck,” said Rosa Madrigal, a witness. “They pulled it out, but the moment they did, I saw she was bleeding on the side.”

The woman was taken to the hospital, but her current condition is unknown.

It is unclear whether the driver of the Lexus sustained any injuries, as the investigation is ongoing. The LAPD is asking anyone with information to call 1-877-527-3247.
