Woman Suffered Injuries after Hit-and-Run Crash on 36th Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 6, 2019) – A woman was hurt after a hit-and-run accident on 36th Street in Southcrest on Sunday, August 4.
According to the reports, a driver fled the scene after hitting a woman as she tried to get into her van.
Witnesses told San Diego police they saw a light-colored GMC Yukon with silver rims hit her shortly before noon as the driver moved southbound on 36th Street.
The impact sent her toppling to the ground as the driver slowed down but left the area. Relatives rushed to give aid to the victim.
Another witness followed the suspect to the Navy Exchange on 32nd Street. Officers called military authorities, who pursued the driver.
Paramedics helped the victim and brought her to UC San Diego Medical Center. Her condition is not released.
Officers temporarily shut 36th Street as she received on-scene treatment.
