Woman Injured in Fatal Crash on 880 Freeway and 29th Avenue [Oakland, CA]

1 Killed and 1 Hurt in Oakland Auto Accident on 880 Freeway

 
OAKLAND, CA (October 13, 2020) – Early Monday morning, a woman suffered injuries in a fatal crash on 880 Freeway and 29th Avenue.
 
The incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of 880 Freeway, south of 29th Avenue.
 
When the CHP officers arrived, they located a Subaru Forester. The vehicle crashed into the rear of a flatbed truck in the number three lane. The number three lane and the numbers one and two lanes were unavailable during the crash due to construction work,
 
According to the CHP, the truck parked inside the closed-off area as it delivers materials to workers.
 
As a result of the crash, the male Subaru driver died at the scene. Meanwhile, his female passenger suffered major injuries. Responders transported her to a hospital in critical condition.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role. Also, they are unsure why the Subaru drove into the closed-off area.
 
Eventually, CHP revealed that the Subaru was a stolen vehicle. Unfortunately, additional details about the theft remain unknown.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities diverted all northbound freeway traffic off the freeway and Highway Street for more than an hour.
 
The lanes have since reopened.
 
Moreover, the crash remains under active investigation.
