Suspected DUI Driver Crashes in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (April 22, 2019) – On Monday morning, a woman was injured in a suspected DUI accident on Palm Avenue near Shields Avenue.
According to the Fresno Police Department, a woman driving a Mustang convertible lost control of the car. Due to the impact, the vehicle sheared off a telephone pole and hit a fire hydrant. As a result, the fire hydrant broke and water shot in the air.
Pacific Gas and Electric Company arrived to the scene and shut down the power in the area. However, the water was shut down an hour later.
First responders stated the Mustang driver suffered a bump to her head. In addition, the woman had an infant and a young child in the vehicle at the time of the crash. After treatment and evaluation, neither of the children were injured.
The name of the victims are currently unknown.
Authorities evaluated the woman for DUI. Thus, it’s not known if she was cited or arrested.
The avenue was closed off for a brief time, but has since reopened. No further details have been released regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident at this time.
