The incident happened at around 3:10 a.m. on Interstate 5 near Portland Avenue.
According to reports, a 22-year-old Tacoma man crashed into a parked vehicle and pedestrian on the freeway. As a result, responders took the 37-year-old female pedestrian to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.
At this time, the authorities suspect that 22-year-old driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
According to reports, the Tacoma man and a second vehicle both drove south near Portland Avenue in a construction zone. Then, a woman stood near a third vehicle parked in that zone. The Tacoma man crashed into the second vehicle. Then, he veered into the parked vehicle and the woman.
Meanwhile, the unidentified vehicle fled the crash scene.
After the crash, the Tacoma man and a 27-year-old Tumwater man inside the parked vehicle both suffered injuries. Thus, responders took both of them to St. Joseph Medical Center.
Furthermore, the crash led to the closure of all lanes of the freeway.
