Woman Hurt in San Diego Car Crash on Poway Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 22, 2019) — A woman suffered serious injuries following a car accident on Poway Road on Sunday, July 21.
The crash happened around 5 a.m. on Poway Road in the Sabre Springs area north of Scripps Ranch.
According to the police, the 24-year-old woman drove east when she somehow lost control of her car. She then crossed the median and flipped her sedan. She managed to crawl out of the wreck. However, as she walked across the street through the westbound lanes, a passing car driven by a 23-year-old woman struck her.
The driver of that vehicle immediately stopped and dialed 911, San Diego Police Lt. Christian Sharp stated. Paramedics rushed the woman to the hospital with critical injuries, according to Sharp. The driver of the other vehicle was not badly hurt. She cooperated with the authorities and was not suspected of DUI, said Sharp.
Officers shut down all westbound lanes of Poway Road in the immediate area. Only one lane remained open heading east for several hours after the incident.
Later Sunday, police said that the woman sustained several broken bones and a head injury. She was expected to survive the crash.
