Woman Fatally Struck by City of Redding Garbage Truck Near Trinity Street [Redding, CA]

Redding, CA (October 30, 2021) – On Friday, a woman was fatally struck by City of Redding garbage truck near Trinity Street.

Officers received the report at about 7:50 a.m. at the Market Street intersection.

When the offices arrived, they found a woman’s body in an alleyway behind Weinerschnitzel.

They pronounced the woman dead at the scene. 

Moreover, investigating officers said the victim had injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Upon investigation, the authorities said the victim was sleeping in the alleyway, in the path of travel.

They also said that she was wrapped in dark-colored blankets and clothing. 

Officers confirmed that a City of Redding garbage truck emptied a dumpster in the alley. Then, the truck backed up, and turned right to travel north in the alley. 

Apparently, the driver didn’t see the pedestrian sleeping on the ground and ran over her.
