Female Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Motorcycle near South Gaffey Street
SAN PEDRO, CA (October 15, 2018) – A woman was killed late Monday evening following a pedestrian crash on West 14th Street. The identity of the deceased victim is being withheld, pending notification of her relatives.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident took place at about 10:40 PM. A motorcyclist was heading south on Gaffey Street when he noticed two pedestrians trying to cross in an unmarked crosswalk. The rider attempted to lay the bike down to avoid the pedestrians but still collided with the woman.
The victim suffered unspecified injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. No other injuries were reported by the authorities. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
