Female Pedestrian from Chula Vista Struck and Killed by Vehicle near Interstate 805
CHULA VISTA, CA (September 21, 2018) – On Friday evening, a woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident on H Street. The deceased victim was only identified as a Chula Vista resident in her early 50s. Her identity was not disclosed to the public, pending notification of family members.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place around 8:00 PM near the southbound Interstate 805 off-ramp.
As per reports from the Chula Vista Police Department, the woman had just gotten out of her boyfriend’s car and stepped onto the road when she was hit by a passing vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. The driver remained at the crash site and cooperated with officials during their investigation. He was later taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the fatal crash, which remains under investigation. No other information has been disclosed at this time.
