Woman Struck and Killed in Martinez Car Accident on Highway 4
MARTINEZ, CA (February 23, 2019) — A woman died after she was struck by another vehicle while running from her solo-car crash on Thursday, February 21.
At about 8:26 p.m., the California Highway Patrol rushed to Highway 4 west of Pacheco Boulevard on a report of a solo-vehicle crash.
Responding officers found a blue Saturn that had collided into the center divider in the eastbound lanes of the highway. The female driver of the vehicle was discovered lying unresponsive in the westbound lanes of traffic. The woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Investigators believed that the woman was driving east on Highway 4 when she veered off the roadway and collided into the center metal guardrail. She exited her car, climbed over the guardrail and tried to run across westbound lanes of traffic. Then she was struck by an oncoming Dodge pickup truck.
The driver of the truck stayed at the scene and did not sustain injuries, CHP said.
Several witnesses also remained at the area to provide information to investigators.
