Officers Arrest Cesar Iban Torres in Encino Fatal Crash
Encino, CA (August 13, 2021) – On Thursday, a woman died, while police arrested 31-year-old Cesar Iban Torres of Los Angeles, in a crash on 101 Freeway.
The fatal crash took place at about 7 p.m. west of Haskell Avenue.
A 2003 Lincoln Navigator SUV driven by Torres was traveling the wrong direction on the freeway.
The oncoming semi-truck driver attempted to avoid the accident but could not due to the 2003 Lincoln’s erratic driving.
As a result, it struck the big rig near the 405 Freeway. Officers said one adult and four children were injured.
Right away, rescuers took all the children to a hospital as a precaution, but with minor injuries.
Unfortunately, officers pronounced an adult woman who was trapped, dead at the scene. The authorities withheld her identity until her family is notified.
Moreover, reports said that the all of those injured and the deceased woman were occupants in the SUV.
The semi-truck driver refused medical transport.
Torres exited his vehicle after the crash and attempted to flee. He also fought with the authorities, but was arrested at the scene with the use of a Taser.
Responders took him to a local hospital for treatment after being taken into custody.
Meanwhile, officers said it was unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
