One Killed after Santa Maria Two-Car Accident on Union Valley Parkway
SANTA MARIA, CA (April 8, 2019) – A woman died after a two-vehicle crash at the southern edge of Santa Maria on Thursday, April 4.
According to the Santa Maria Police Department, the accident involved an Apex Auto Glass pickup truck and a sedan. It occurred at Union Valley Parkway and California Boulevard at around 5 p.m.
Lt. Mark Streker told Noozhawk said that the sedan was northbound on California Boulevard when it collided with the pickup, which was eastbound on Union Valley Parkway.
The female driver of the sedan, the sole occupant in the vehicle, died at the scene. However, the two men in the pickup did not sustain injuries, Streker said.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim, pending notification of relatives.
The impact of the accident sent both vehicles into vegetation north of Union Valley Parkway. In addition, crash debris including glass covered the roadway near the intersection.
Police said that the initial investigation showed that alcohol or drugs did not play a role in the crash.
Officers shut down sections of Union Valley Parkway and California Boulevard while police investigated the incident.
