Female Pedestrian Killed in Santa Monica Accident on Pico Boulevard and Stewart Avenue
SANTA MONICA, CA (October 15, 2020) – On Tuesday morning, a woman died in a pedestrian crash on Pico Boulevard and Stewart Avenue.
According to Lt. Captain Saul Rodriguez, authorities received a report of a possible pedestrian incident at around 8:00 a.m.
Upon arrival, responders found a female pedestrian at the scene. Moreover, the victim suffered severe head trauma, according to officers. Then, Santa Monica Fire Department Paramedics provided treatment and rushed the woman to a local hospital. However, the woman later died at the hospital.
Reports revealed that a southbound vehicle on Stewart Avenue attempted to make an eastbound turn onto Pico Boulevard. However, the vehicle struck the pedestrian walking in a crosswalk at the intersection, SMPD’s Major Accident Response Team said.
Furthermore, the driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Meanwhile, authorities do not believe that drugs and alcohol to be a factor in the incident.
Thus, the crash on Pico Boulevard remains in an active investigation of SMPD.
