Fatal Oakland DUI Accident on Interstate 880 near 66th Avenue
OAKLAND, CA (May 2, 2021) – Saturday morning, a woman died and a man sustained injuries in a suspected DUI crash on Interstate 880 near 66th Avenue.
According to California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 4:30 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on southbound Interstate 880 near Oakland’s 66th Avenue.
Reports revealed that a Chevrolet Ventura attempted to merge onto southbound I-880 and crashed into a guardrail and comes to rest on the road, blocking a lane of the highway.
Furthermore, after the initial crash, a black Honda Civic struck the Chevrolet. The force of the crash pushed the Chevrolet and struck a passenger of it standing outside the vehicle,
Moreover, responders pronounced the female Chevrolet passenger dead on the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Honda driver to a regional trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
Also, authorities arrested the female driver of the Chevrolet on suspicion of driving under the influence.
The incident closed the southbound lanes of the highway for a couple of hours but has long since reopened.
