Driver Arrested in San Clemente Auto Accident on Interstate 5 near Camino de Estrella

SAN CLEMENTE, CA (February 15, 2023) – Sunday morning, a 25-year-old woman died in a DUI crash on Interstate 5 near Camino de Estrella.

The incident happened at around 2:00 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Camino de Estrella.

According to reports, a 2001 Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and overturned. Then, the force of the crash ejected two wheels of the force into the northbound lanes.

Then, it struck a 2019 Toyota Prius. Moments later, a 2021 Prius struck the Ford. Then, a 2016 Honda Civic struck the wreckage at the scene, partially ejecting the 25-year-old Civic driver who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreover, responders transported the 20-year-old male driver of the Ford to a hospital with major injuries. Also, authorities confirmed that the Ford driver was arrested for DUI.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
