1 Killed and 4 Hospitalized in Oakland Accident on Highway 24 near Shattuck Avenue

 
OAKLAND, CA (May 22, 2022) – Early Saturday morning, a woman died in a wrong-way crash on Highway 24 near Shattuck Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 2:00 a.m. Moreover, it occurred on Highway 24 near Shattuck Avenue.
 
Reports revealed that a Mercedes-Benz traveled the wrong way on the far left eastbound lane of Highway 24. Then, it collided with a Mazda sedan.
 
Moreover, responders pronounced a female occupant of the sedan dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported four other occupants of the sedan to a hospital with major injuries.
 
Furthermore, officers confirmed that the driver of the Mercedes attempted to flee the scene on foot thru the bushes off Highway 24. However, authorities managed to locate and arrest the suspect with the help of a K9 unit.
 
Meanwhile, CHP believed that alcohol played a role in the incident.
 
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
