1 Person Dead after Devastating Fatal Head-On Crash on FM 1485 in New Caney

New Caney, TX (April 6, 2023) – Wednesday night, a woman died, and two others sustained serious injuries in a head-on crash on FM 1485 near Gene Campbell.

The fatal crash on FM 1485 in New Caney happened just before 9 p.m. on April 5.

East Montgomery County officials said a 34-year-old Conroe woman died at the crash scene. 

Reportedly, a woman driving a Jeep with her two children inside was driving northbound on FM 1485. The deceased victim also traveled northbound on FM 1485 in a Toyota Corolla at a speed unsafe for the wet roads.

Authorities claim that the victim struck the Jeep’s left rear bumper, causing the Toyota to veer into the southbound lanes at an angle and begin to roll due to the incident. At that point, a southbound Ford F-150 impacted the Toyota’s passenger side and roof, tearing it open and causing the woman to be ejected from the car.

Moreover, JAWS was needed to free the stranded Ford F-150’s male driver and a female passenger. The passenger and driver were both transported, with the driver being sent to a hospital in critical condition in Kingwood.

The Jeep’s female driver and her two children were unharmed.
