Jillian Junia Arrested after DUI Accident that Killed Uber Passenger
WILSHIRE, CA (March 15, 2018) – An Uber passenger was killed in a two-vehicle collision on West Olympic Boulevard in Mid-Wilshire, early Thursday morning.
According to Los Angeles Police officials, the crash occurred at the 5700 block of West Olympic Blvd at around 1:45 AM. A BMW sedan, driven by 33-year-old Jillian Junia, t-boned a Toyota Prius that was driving for Uber at the time.
A woman sitting passenger in the Prius died on the scene, and at least two other people were injured and transported to the hospital. Information on the injuries sustained was not immediately confirmed. It is also unclear how many occupants were in each vehicle.
Junia was arrested at the scene on DUI charges. She was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, with a bail set at $50,000. Police are investigating whether or rain was another contributing factor in the fatal collision.
Olympic Boulevard was closed off in both directions for several hours between Houser Boulevard and Sierra Bonita Avenue, while authorities investigated and crews cleaned up the wreckage from the roadway.
