William Beasley Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (October 1, 2019) – Authorities identified 73-year-old William Hester as the man killed in a hit-and-run crash on Palm Street, Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Hester and his wife were on their way to a dental appointment, at about 9:00 AM. They were walking around the area when Hester pushed his wife to safety. Then, a gray Toyota Tacoma struck him near Arnold Avenue.
Emergency responders pronounced Hester dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the Tacoma driver did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area.
On October 5, officers located the Tacoma driver. With the help of witness statements and social media tipsters, they were able to arrest 70-year-old William Beasley of Antelope. Officers booked him into the Sacramento County Jail, where he is facing felony hit-and-run and manslaughter charges.
The CHP continues to investigate the fatal crash. Those who wish to cooperate should call the CHP office as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information to the public once it becomes available.
