Robert Chaffin Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash near Cochran Street
SIMI VALLEY, CA (June 25, 2018) – A man was killed Monday morning after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle between Cochran and Eileen streets. 33-year-old William Allen Miller, of Simi Valley, was later identified as the victim in this incident.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the collision took place shortly before 8:30 AM in the 2200 block of Tapo Street. A motorcycle, driven by Miller, was traveling south when a northbound blue 2006 Ford Escape entered its path.
The Ford, driven by 64-year-old Robert Chaffin of Simi Valley, was attempting to turn left into a shopping center when it struck the rider.
Miller sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, while Chaffin reportedly escaped after the deadly crash. At 10:00 PM, police confirmed that Chaffin was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and was being processed into the Ventura County jail.
An investigation is ongoing and authorities are asking anyone with relevant information to call officer Corey Baker at (805) 813-1940. No additional details have been disclosed at this time.
