Taxi Cab Crashes Into Utility Pole Leaving Two Dead and One Injured
WESTMINSTER, CA (January 21, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal crash around 9:38 PM on SUnday evening, involving a taxi cab and power pole on the Bolsa Chica and Goldenwest off-ramp from the northbound 405 Freeway.
A taxi cab was reportedly speeding on the off-ramp while exiting the highway, when it lost control and went off the roadway and into a utility pole. The pole was broken in half and leaning against a nearby building, according to Orange County Fire Authority Captain Gonzales.
The cab driver and one passenger were declared deceased on the scene by fire personnel. A second passenger was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries; there is no update on the individual’s condition.
Identities of the victims involved in the crash have not yet been released to the public.
The off-ramp from the 405 Freeway was temporarily closed while authorities investigated and the wreckage was cleared from the road.
