Driver Exits Vehicle, Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Car on Highway 50 in West Sacramento
WEST SACRAMENTO, CA (April 10, 2019) – A man was killed following a hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning in West Sacramento, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened around 1:56 a.m. on westbound Highway 50 at Harbor Boulevard.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved three vehicles, starting with a 2018 Maserati colliding with the center divider. While the car was disabled in the left lane of traffic, the driver exited his vehicle and was struck by a 2006 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 19-year-old Vacaville man.
Following the crash, a third vehicle approached and struck the Maserati driver again. It then continued westbound on Highway 50. The vehicle was described as a white Ford Focus or Ford Escape with dark rims
The Maserati driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries and was taken to UC Davis Medical Center.
Some lanes of westbound Highway 50 traffic at 80 Freeway were shut down by Caltrans early in the morning, but all lanes were re-opened before 5:00 a.m.
