Plumas County, CA (February 06, 2021) – On Wednesday, 60-year-old Wesley Anderson of Reno died while 65-year-old Thomas Pourchot of Doyle was injured in a vehicle crash on Highway 395.
The fatal head-on crash took place at about 5:14 p.m. about 0.5 miles south of Scott Road.
Apparently, Anderson was traveling on his gray Mazda 3 south on Highway 395. He attempted to pass a semi-truck over double yellow lines approaching a curve.
Reports said he was traveling at approximately 85 to 90 MPH.
At the same time, 65-year-old Thomas Pourchot was driving a 2019 gray GMC Sierra north on the highway at 69 MPH around a blind curve when he saw the Mazda driving south at a high rate of speed.
He tried to avoid a collision by braking and turning to the right shoulder.
On the other hand, Anderson simultaneously turned the Mazda to the left shoulder of the road.
As a result, the vehicles crashed head-on on the east shoulder of the highway.
Unfortunately, Anderson suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Responders took Pourchot to Renown Hospital for medical treatment for suffering minor injuries.
