15-Year-Old Monroe Boy Fatally Injured in Train Collision near North Kelsey Street
MONROE, WA (September 14, 2018) – On Friday afternoon, a teenage boy was struck and killed by a train on 179th Avenue Southeast. The deceased victim was later identified as 15-year-old Wes Donohue of Monroe.
According to reports, the collision took place near North Kelsey Street. The victim was reportedly struck by a BNSF freighter, although events leading up to the collision are unclear at this time. It is not yet known why the boy stepped onto the train tracks.
Donohue suffered critical injuries and was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders. The victim was a Monroe High School student and a candlelight vigil for the victim happened on Saturday at Sky River Park in Monroe. A GoFundMe page was set up to help the boy’s family with funeral expenses.
No additional information has been released to the public, as the investigation continues by officials.
