Playa Del Rey Crash Kills Wendy Galdamez Palma of Downey
Playa Del Rey, CA (September 12, 2021) – On Sunday, 33-year-old Wendy Galdamez Palma of Downey, died in a hit-and-run crash on Vista Del Mar Lane.
The accident took place at around 10:30 p.m. as she crossed the street to get to her vehicle.
Reports said she was cradling her 3-year-old when the accident happened.
Rescuers took the child to a hospital and expects him to be okay.
Investigating officers said the driver of the dark-colored sedan immediately fled the scene after hitting Palma and her child.
Family members said Palma shielded her son with her own body, protecting her son from the vehicle that killed her.
Palma’s other son, a 4-year-old was with his father when the crash happened. The family had spent time at the beach and were walking to their car when the fatal crash occurred.
Meanwhile, the officers are still investigating the incident felony hit-and-run.
