20-Year-Old Woman Dead and 22-Year-Old Man Injured in Crash with Snowplow on 1400 block of Skyline Drive
WENATCHEE, WA (February 17, 2018) – A fatal crash with a snowplow occurred on the 1400 block of Skyline Drive near Red Apple Road, on Saturday morning around 8:30 AM.
A 1990 Honda CRX was driving eastbound on Skyline Dr, when it lost control and crossed the centerline into the westbound lane. A Chelan County Public Works snowplow was in the westbound lane, and tried to avoid a collision by swerving into the eastbound lane.
The plow blade struck the passenger side of the Honda, causing major damage to the vehicle. According to Wenatchee Police Captain Edgar Reinfeld, the 20-year-old woman passenger in the CRX had to be extricated by Chelan County Fire District 1 firefighters.
Both the driver of the Honda, a 22-year-old man from Wenatchee, and his female passenger were injured and transported to the Central Washington Hospital for treatment. The woman succumbed to her injuries while at the hospital, and was pronounced dead. The plow driver was uninjured in the accident.
Authorities continue to investigate this fatal collision. No other information has been released at this time regarding the identity of the victim.
