PCSD Investigate Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on West Orange Grove Road in Tucson
Tucson, AZ (May 23, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, 71-year-old Wayne Wakefield died after a 2-vehicle crash on West Orange Grove Road and North La Cholla Boulevard.
The fatal 2-vehicle crash on West Orange Grove Road in Tucson happened around 1:24 a.m. on May 23.
PCSD said a Toyota and a Jeep crashed at the intersection.
The driver of the Toyota, Wakefield, was taken to Banner Hospital with what were believed to be minor injuries. However, his condition got worse at the hospital, and he died at 3:47 a.m.
The driver of the Jeep was identified as 29-year-old Brian Clarke.
According to PCSD, Clarke showed signs of impairment on scene.
Clarke was booked into the Pima County Jail on charges of manslaughter, criminal damage, and driving under the influence.
