BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 25, 2021) – Saturday evening, two people died in a single-vehicle crash on Golden State Highway near Q Street.
 
According to Sgt. Chance Koerner, the incident happened at around 6:12 p.m. on Golden State Highway near Q Street.
 
Reports revealed that a westbound vehicle traveled at around 60 to 70 mph at the far right lane.
 
Then, the driver suddenly veered towards the middle lane and collided with a highway support pillar.
 
Furthermore, responders pronounced two men inside the vehicle dead at the scene.
 
Also, officers described the driver of the vehicle as a man in his 70s. Meanwhile, the passenger was a man in his 40s.
 
Moreover, authorities closed Golden State Avenue between Q and 24th streets for several hours to give way to investigation.
 
The coroner later released the identity of the two individuals as Wayne Stedman, 72, and Salvador Alvarez Vargas, 49.
