Hollister Man Dies in Late Evening Rollover Crash on San Juan Road in Watsonville
WATSONVILLE, CA (April 12, 2019) – A 21-year-old Hollister man was killed following a rollover crash late Friday evening in Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man was driving a 2004 Toyota Tundra eastbound on San Juan Road, just West of Murphy Road around 11:27 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway, hit a power pole on the shoulder, veered south and overturned.
The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending notification of his family members.
His 23-year-old passenger, also a Hollister man, was taken to Natividad Medical Center with minor injuries.
It is unknown why the vehicle left the roadway, but authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
